So, I tested popular apps with VR workouts like Supernatural, Litesport, Xponential+, FitXR, and Les Mills XR Bodycombat. The Supernatural VR app combined beautiful surroundings with full-body workoutsI worked out while wearing my Meta Quest 3 VR headset. The app's music library set it apart from the other VR workout apps I've tried, many of which didn't have recognizable songs. Many of the workout apps I tried tapped into my competitive drive by creating a video-game-like environment. The next time I feel unmotivated to work out, I might try a VR exercise app.

Shifting perceptions of fitness technologyPuma this year partnered with Meta Quest 3 to launch immersive mixed-reality workouts in the metaverse. He recalled seeing people's perceptions of VR workouts change at a launch event for Puma and Meta Quest's partnership earlier this year. Lisa Edwards, Les Mills' digital innovation director, said the game's development required the company to adapt to connect "a global community of fitness enthusiasts." Three years ago, when Les Mills met with developers, the technology was more rudimentary; putting time and resources into extended-reality services was a risk.

Some women wanting to get fit are turning to VR headsets, one firm told The Washington Post. VR headsets have received mixed reviews from consumers amid "underwhelming" sales for some devices. Back then, VR headsets were mainly marketed to young men, but some women in their mid-thirties and older are now taking an interest in the gaming headsets, Cole told The Washington Post. In March, Meta announced it was slashing the price of its VR headsets after "underwhelming" sales. Influencer Clarke Peoples, who's known for lifestyle and beauty content, shared her own VR workout recommendations to her nearly 500,000 followers in August.
